After graduating from the Dance Conservatory in Prague in 1993 he joined the junior company of Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT 2), later followed by the main company NDT 1. During these years he has created, worked with and performed works by most of the best known choreographers.
In 2004 Václav became a freelance dancer and choreographer, occasionally setting up works of Mr. Kylian on other companies around the world.
As a choreographer Václav has created works for NDT 2, Laterna Magika Theater in Prague, Copenhagen Int. Ballet, Korzo Theater in Den Haag and Station Zuid in Tilburg, Holland, which will present his full evening piece in 2009. In 2005 he has been nominated for the Dancer of the Year award in Cannes. In 2006 he played the role of Young Nijinski in the Finnish film production, Vaslav Nijinski - Invisible Power.
His opening creation for 420PEOPLE, choreography Small Hour (2007) was awarded the Theater Newspaper/Sazka Price for the best performance of the season, in the category - dance and ballet and by the dutch theater programmers chosen for the Dans Click tour in the Netherlands. In 2008 Kuneš presented two new works - On an Even Keel and Golden Crock.
In the spring of 2009, inspired by the jazz music, Kuneš presented his first full evening choreography Ghost Note in the production of Station Zuid in the Netherlands. At the end of the same year he finished creating another full evening piece A Small hour ago in production of 420PEOPLE and Korzo Theatre. This choreography is a free follow up of the previous works Small Hour and On an Even Keel.
