After studying at the Dance Conservatory in Bratislava (Slovakia) and Academie de Danse Classique Princesse Grace in Monaco,in 1997 Lukáš joined Les Ballets de Monte Carlo, where he danced for three years under J. Ch. Maillot. During those year he danced pieces by choreographers like J.Ch. Maillot, G. Balanchine, Twyla Tharp, Nacho Duato, and others. In the year 2000 he joined Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) 2 and two years later NDT 1, where he worked until 2010. In NDT 1 he had an opportunity to work on new creations or ballets from the company repertory by choreographers like Jiří Kylián, Wiliam Forsythe, Mats Ek, Paul Lightfoot/Sol Leon, Hans van Manen, Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, Johan Inger, and others. He has danced in theatres in New York, Paris, London, Tokyo, Singapore, Barcelona, Rio de Janeiro, Mexico City, and Shanghai,etc. From the time he joined NDT he started to choreograph. Since 2001 he has regularly created short pieces for the NDT’s choreographic workshop. For the C-SCOPE project in Regentes Theater in The Hague he created Dear Reader (2004), Due a Due(2005), and Bodily Writing (2007). Due a Due was also performed by National Theater Mannheim during the 2006/07 season.For NDT 1 he made Twenty (2005) and I SAW I WAS I (2006) as part of the Up Coming Choreographers project. For NDT 2 he made Oneness, which premiered during the Holland Dance Festival 2007 in The Hague. For the Slovak National Theater in Bratislava he made Real Time (2008). Another creation for NDT2 is Offspring (2009). This piece has been performed in Holland, the UK, Slovakia, and France. Urtanz (2009) was premiered during the TodaysArt Festival in The Hague with dancers from NDT 1. His latest creations are Shortcut (2010), a duet createdin collaboration with Francesco Nappa; Instrument (2010),a short dance movie developed in collaboration with Rubenvan Leer that premiered during the Cinedans Festival in Amsterdam; Eroica (2010), his longest piece, which was createdfor the Göteborg Ballet in Sweden; Masculine/Feminine (2011) developed for NDT 2; and A Place Between (2011), created for Konpainia Danzaz in San Sebastian. Most of his works since 2004 have been prepared in collaboration with the designer Peter Bilak, reflecting on new concepts for contemporary dance.
