Paedocypris Progenetica (small fish)
Choreography: Václav Kuneš, Edd Schouten
Music: Hee Seung Choi
Lights: Loes Schakenbos
Dancers: K. Jelinková/ N.Novotná, V. Kuneš, T. Rychetský
Premiered on 26 February 2006 at the Here We Live And Now festival of Korzo Theater. It was inspired by the ‘dystopic’ world described in the classic novel 1984 by George Orwell. The three central figures from the book, Winston, Julia and O’Brien, are also the main characters in this choreography. Kunes and Scouten explored these three characters prior to the performance, and, together with the dancers, imagined how they related to each other and the society in which they lived.
The different elements in the piece, such as movement, sound, lighting, and costumes are not isolated, but were developed as an integrated whole. The result is an atmospheric description that invites the audience to fill in its own ‘dystopia’.
