The direct motive force of creating Moisture Rocket was that Kenzo was astonished by the spring in Holland, especially when he saw the blossoming trees in a city like Amsterdam. Those blossoming trees reminded him of a story from his childhood
in Japan; “The Legend of Michizane’s Flying Plum-tree ".
A plum-tree wished and prayed that it could free itself from the ground in which it was rooted, and then fly through the sky
to meet once again its master Michizane who had been sent
into exile. The inner power of the tree made it possible to resist the gravity, so eventually the plum-tree and its master Michizane could find each other to reunite again.
Kusuda supposes that The Flying Plum-tree is like a “ Moisture Rocket “, a rocket made of juicy vitality of life.

In Moisture Rocket, two stray souls make a journey together
into each other without knowing each other. They search for the possibility to form the wholeness but their contour lock themselves up separately within their physical boundaries,
so the two cannot easily become one.
But still, stirring the space and moving parallel with each other, they search for the very point where the crumbled oneness can finally get restored.

„Kusuda has the courage to tell his own story, far away from prevelent trends and cheap crowd pleasing. A small, subtle choreography with the power of Japanese Haiku." ( by Gabriel Smeets, dance critic / from commission report Nederlandse Dansdagen)

The first trio version was made by Dansateliers Rotterdam. Later the piece was re-worked as a duet version which was produced by Korzo Producties, Den Haag and was financially supported by Dutch Ministry of Culture. In autumn 2007 Moisture Rocket was presented as a part of touring program DansClick 3 - The choice of 30 theatre directors / programmers. DansClick 3 was made possible by Fonds voor Podiumprogrammering & Marketing, VSB fonds, FAPK - Dutch National Fund for Performing Arts.
