On 28 November 2024, the dance company 420PEOPLE is launching a new DANCE NEVER GROWS OLD campaign using Darujme.cz. The campaign is about the one-of-a-kind 42+PEOPLE project, set up by the company’s choreographer and artistic director, Václav Kuneš. The project helps dancers over forty find new ways to develop their art and career after they’ve finished dancing professionally. 42+PEOPLE focuses on exchanging ideas between dancers of different generations, offering a fresh perspective on maintaining a dance career well into one’s 40s and beyond.
The project has already created a few choreographies for several well-known Czech dancers who have crossed the age of 42. The pilot choreography, WHERE, was created by Václav Kuneš and Helena Arenberger. It’s an intimate duet featuring dancers Václav Kuneš and
Helena Arenbergerová. They invite the audience into a dream world behind the mirror, filling the space of Studio Maiselovka with contemporary dance. Helena Arenbergerová won the prominent Thalia Award 2023 for female performance in the Dance category for her solo role in this performance.
The second choreography prepared for this project was SOFTER SKILLS. It was created by the foreign artist and choreographer Edan Gorlicki and features three prominent Czech dancers (Helena Arenbergerová, Andrea Opavská and Veronika Kornová).
The next piece 42+PEOPLE: Saburo Teshigawara, choreographed by the Japanese artist Saburo Teshigawara, will debut in February 2025. Saburo has been invited to work with Studio Maiselovka by Václav Kuneš. More about.
