SYLVA ŠAFKOVÁ

Artistic Assistant, choreographer, dancer

 

Sylva Šafková is a Czech choreographer and dancer who has worked with prestigious institutions such as Compagnie M – Maurice Béjart, the State Opera Prague, the National Theatre, and 420PEOPLE. She studied choreography at HAMU and has a long-standing collaboration with choreographer Nanine Linning, the current artistic director of Scapino Ballet Rotterdam. She takes part in the staging of Linning’s works such as DUSK, Hieronymus Bosch, and others. From 2016 to 2017, she worked as her assistant and rehearsal director at Theater Heidelberg.

She has created a number of choreographies for 420PEOPLE, including INspiraCe, HeArt of Noise and Why Things Go Wrong. The latter was included in the 20 most successful choreographies in the Aerowaves selection in 2024 and performed on the Czech Dance Platform. In 2025 she reworked this choreography for the Israeli company Fresco Dance Company. The dance film Through Glass, which she also created for 420PEOPLE, won the “Pick of the Fest” at the Los Angeles Dance Short Film Festival.
