42+PEOPLE: SABURO TESHIGAWARA

In collaboration with Japanese choreographer Saburo Teshigawara and Japanese dancer Rihoko Sato, contemporary dance company 420PEOPLE and choreographer Václav Kuneš present the unique performance created especially for Studio Maiselovka as part of the 42+PEOPLE project.

Václav Kuneš and Saburo Teshigawara’s long-term collaboration will, thus, culminate in the premiere of 42+PEOPLE, an “intimate” event in 2025!

In 2005, Václav Kuneš and the Japanese dancer Rihoko Sato were awarded an international prize, the Best Dancer of the Year Award 2005 in Cannes, for their interpretation of Teshigawara's piece (duet Scream and Whisper). They subsequently toured the world performing Scream and Whisper. Green, a performance with live animals, followed. In another unusual piece, Glass Tooth, Saburo danced on four tonnes of glass in the form of shards. In 2012, Václav Kuneš invited Japanese choreographer Saburo Teshigawara and dancer Rihoko Sato to Prague for the first time for a joint project, Encounters. The unique performance was staged at the Archa Theatre in Prague.

The next joint choreography, presented by Václav Kuneš, was be the third premiere of the 42+PEOPLE project at Studio Maiselovka.
